Photography Workshop – La Madre Ganga

A cycle of professional growth like that of the photographer does not really set any limit. I am already happy to have the possibility to put together my passion for the art of photography with my love for traveling but adding the honour of teaching something about it really makes me proud. I am talking about Workshop in Photography “La Madre Ganga”, which will take place from Feb 1 to Feb 12, 2018, and in which I will play the role of the teacher.

Definitely a most important occasion for anyone wishing to learn something new. If photografy is an eye on the world, what could be better than pointing this eye towards a new and fascinating world, like India? Magical and misterious, as everyone says, it is a place where learning how to take pictures takes you back to step one and you will end up learning something new about yourself. I can say this from experience, after years of traveling to take pictures and of taking pictures to travel.

The program of this Photography Workshop is designed around the river Gange and the multitude of different places and people it touches. Starting at Haridwar, we will proceed towards the cities of Rishikesh, Ayodhya and Allahabad, then taking for Chitakoot to conclude our trip in Varanasi. As you can imagine by this list of places, the voyage is a learning process, a workshop, in itself, even if in its own peculiar way. The time of the year is perfect and we will visit mystical places, getting to know people that will teach us more than we opted for.

Between the organizers you will find Marco Boccolato and Stefania Ferrero, the guys from www.born2travel.it and the agency www.tribekatour.it, together they made all of this possible. Expert tour operators and a proper management is a necessary ingredient to minimize all possible inconveniences and maximize the experience when traveling in far abroad lands.

The aim of this workshop, apart from the voyage, is to improve our photography skills. More specifically we will focus on a particular way of shooting pictures: street reportage photography. Combined with storytelling fundamentals, we will make it to the end of the workshop with a visual story in our hands. We will try to develop that eye for details that makes us ready to shoot when holding a camera. We will learn where the best shots are hiding around us, that sense of perspective that in just a moment it makes you point and shoot. Beneath this sort of sixth sense there is always a lot of work, and we will go trough all of that to identify the underlying mechanisms to the art of photography, like focus, perspective, lighting, framing, exposition and all those tricks of the trade that we developed during the years.
